Our Toy Philosophy
Quality Toys for Happy Dogs
Play isn't just fun for dogs - it's essential. The right toy supports physical health, mental wellbeing, and the bond between a dog and their owner. Dogs that are well-stimulated through play are calmer, more settled, and generally happier companions.
At Woof Love & More, we take our toy selection seriously. We don't fill shelves with cheap, poorly made products that fall apart after a session or two. We stock toys we genuinely believe in - toys that are well-designed, made from safe materials, and suited to real dogs with real energy levels.
Whether you're after something to tire out a bouncy Spaniel, mentally challenge a Border Collie, comfort an anxious rescue dog, or entertain a puppy without destroying the house - we've got you covered. And if you're not sure where to start, just ask. We love talking about dogs and we know our stock inside out.
All our toys are available to browse and purchase in-store at our Grantham shop. No appointment needed - come in, have a look around, and find something your dog will love.

Choosing the Right Toy for Your Dog
With so many toys available, it can feel overwhelming knowing where to start. The good news is that there's no single right answer - it comes down to knowing your dog. Here's how to think about it.
Match the toy to the play style. Does your dog love to chase? Fetch toys and balls are the obvious choice. Do they love a good wrestle and tug of war? Rope toys will be a hit. Are they a solitary player who entertains themselves? Look at squeaky toys and plush toys they can carry around. Does your dog eat too fast or get bored quickly? An interactive puzzle toy might change everything.
Consider the size of your dog. A small terrier and a large Rottweiler have very different toy needs. A toy that's the right size for one breed can be a choking hazard or a disappointingly small novelty for another. We always stock toys across a range of sizes, and we're happy to advise on what's appropriate for your dog.
Think about durability. If your dog is a determined chewer, a soft plush toy isn't going to last long. For power chewers, look for robust rubber chew toys and reinforced rope toys that can handle serious attention. On the other hand, gentle dogs often do best with softer options that won't feel overwhelming.
Puppies need age-appropriate toys. Young dogs are still developing their teeth and jaws, and they need toys designed for their softer mouths. Puppy-specific toys are gentler on developing teeth while still satisfying that very real need to chew and play.
Rotate the toy box. Dogs get bored of the same toys just like children do. Keep things interesting by rotating toys in and out - something that's been put away for a week feels new and exciting again. This is also a good reason to build up a small selection rather than buying just one.
Helpful Tip
Combine Toys and Treats for Maximum Engagement
Some of the best dog enrichment activities combine toys and treats together. Stuffing a Kong or puzzle toy with high-value treats turns a simple object into an engaging, rewarding challenge that can keep a dog occupied for a long time - and is genuinely tiring for their brain.
It's a technique widely used by trainers, vets, and behaviourists to manage separation anxiety, slow down fast eaters, and redirect destructive chewing behaviour. And it starts with having the right toys and the right treats.
